Water and Tarnish-Resistant

Water and Tarnish-resistant vs. Water and Tarnish-proof

It is not true to say that Sterling Silver is tarnish-proof. Sterling Silver oxidises naturally. However, with the E-coat method, our pieces are safe to be in contact with water (such as shower water). Water will eventually oxidise Sterling Silver but it can be easily polished to get back its shine. Sterling Silver comprises of 7.5% copper. I would not describe them as water & tarnish-proof. It is just the matter of time when the E-coat layer wears off. But again, they can be polished and look like new.
Chlorinated water (swimming pool water) and salted water (sea water) and other chemicals such as perfume, lotion, hair spray, etc. are extremely corrosive to silver. We highly recommend that you take your jewellery off when getting into the pool or the ocean or get in contact with chemicals. Good news is if you forget to take them off, they won't be instantly damaged. Just rinse them under clean water to remove the chemical on the surface of the pieces and pat dry.
